Elephant Bush is a South African succulent shrub that earns the elephant reference - it is a significant food source for elephants in its native habitat, the small, rounded leaves being highly nutritious. As a garden plant it forms a naturally branching, slightly arching shrub to around 1-2m with a relaxed, naturalistic quality. The small, fleshy leaves are glossy and fresh-looking year-round. Extremely drought tolerant - one of the most water-wise medium shrubs available for Perth. Full sun. Excellent drainage. Very drought tolerant once established. Good on dry slopes and in rock gardens.
