A diverse genus of tropical plants producing cane-like stems topped with tufts of strappy or broad leaves, often with strong variegation or colour. Dracaenas are among the most practical indoor plants: they tolerate low light, irregular watering, and dry indoor air with composure. Low to medium indirect light. Water when the top half of soil is dry - less in winter. Sensitive to fluoride in tap water which causes brown leaf tips - use rainwater or allow tap water to stand overnight. Feed monthly in spring and summer. Toxic to pets.
