Chinese Tallow Tree is one of the more reliable deciduous trees for autumn colour in Perth's mild climate - producing vivid red, orange, and yellow tones before leaf drop even without the cold winters that most deciduous trees need to colour well. It grows to around 8-12m with a broadly rounded canopy and attractive heart-shaped leaves. The waxy white seeds that appear after leaf drop are distinctive. Fast-growing and adaptable. Full sun. Adaptable soils including clay. Water while establishing. Drought tolerant once established.
